I love being in the business of helping people buy and sell their homes, because in the end, “home” is personal, it’s not transactional. Being in this business has clarified for me just how valuable having a home is. So, when I heard about Refugee Housing Solutions, I knew we needed to promote them in any way possible. My heart goes out to all of those who are homeless and whose lives have been uprooted for one reason or another. Perhaps you feel the same and own some property and can help!
Realty Lending a Hand: Refugee Housing Solutions
The world we live in is changing rapidly, with climate change causing tension between nations and leading to natural disasters that displace native populations. However, amidst these crises, there are organizations like Refugee Housing Solutions proactively addressing this issue. They even made a toolkit for landlords, property managers, and other housing providers interested in renting to refugees - and we wanted to share it with you!
About Refugee Housing Solutions
The Refugee Housing Solutions (RHS) was made possible by the Church World Service as a project to help newcomers to America. Church World Service is a faith-based organization working to help communities worldwide find sustainable responses to hunger, poverty, displacement, and disaster. RHS is designed to increase access to safe, sanitary, and affordable housing for refugees and other newcomers, emphasizing that everyone deserves a safe place to call home.
The Landlord Kit
The Landlord Kit, created by RHS, aims to assist landlords and property owners in creating affordable renting situations for those in need of shelter due to disasters. If you are a landlord who wants to help but is unsure of the resettlement process, this kit is for you! RHS supports all stakeholders in being intentional and diligent when renting to refugees and other newcomers to the U.S.
This toolkit provides information that demystifies the resettlement process while explaining the benefits of renting to newcomers. It even shares ideas on how to make rental operations culturally friendly for all tenants during their lease term.
