5 Tips For An Easy Mortgage Process
Prior to 2008, mortgage documentation guidelines were relaxed and the process was pretty streamlined. By comparison, today’s requirements are significantly stiffer, but smoothly getting approved for a mortgage is still achievable with a few key strategies:

Provide financial documentation prior to going under contract. The more info your lender has up front, the better.

Maintain the status quo. Check with your lender before changing employment, moving money, making large purchases, closing accounts, or applying for new credit.

Be an open book. You’ll provide pretty well every financial detail of your life during the mortgage process.

Be quick and thorough. When your lender asks for more documentation (and they will), provide exactly what was requested on the same day, within 24 hours at most. Every step of the loan process happens in sequence, so do your part to keep it moving.

Pick an experienced Mortgage Loan Originator. The person you’re interacting with, more than the institution, shapes your entire experience. Your Realtor is the best source for a personal recommendation.
Embrace all five of these strategies and you’ll be golden. Miss any one of ‘em and your journey to homeownership may not be quite as fun.
