Where in Tarheelnation Do You Wash Your Car?

People from up north come down here and scratch their heads, wondering where to wash and vacuum their cars.  For whatever reason, if you live in Chapel Hill you can drive all over the place, visiting random gas stations that APPEAR to have car vacuums, only to find that they don’t work AND there is no car wash nearby.  It’s frustrating and I’ve been there.  Well, there are a few places around, but I’ll mention two here.  If you’re on the Carrboro end, check out Carolina Car Wash and Detail.  It’s full service (so it’s pricier–starting in the $20s) and you’ll wait inside), but pretty fast and your car will come out clean and freshly vacuumed.  They advertise using recycled water too, which in my book is a plus.

If you’re on the Durham side, I’d suggest going by the Durham Ritz Car Wash and Detail Center.  I had great success there one day after hitting up several alleged car wash places, only to find them broken or closed.  I paid $8 to go through the automatic wash (which, ok, is kind of scary…or much like a cheap underwater adventure, depending on your point of view), parked and then used their spiffy, endless vacuums for free.  Then I spritzed down the interior with a spray and microfiber cloths that they provided (all included).  I went in with a stinky, sticky, kid-crumby mini-van and came out with a sweet-smelling Ferarri.  Not quite, but you get the picture.

Anyway, when you come to town, don’t drive around endlessly, wasting your precious moments looking for a car wash!  Look me up and ask where one is–I’ve got you covered!

Zurn Pex Pipe Fittings

While helping a recent client buy a house, we ran into an issue we haven’t before – Pex Pipe Fittings made by Zurn Industries. Apparently these fittings can cause both leaks and occlusions in the pipes that can result in more damage. Enough so that it spurned a Class Action lawsuit.
